The English Martial Arts Podcast Show
Martial arts and training time
In this podcast episode we talk about training times for the different aspects of training in the martial arts. We discuss competition, hobby and self protection training. I also go into a little rant about the politics within Hema so if you are not into that give this one a miss :) But within this podcast episode are some very good tips on training.
Any martial artist worth his salt will try to create a reality-based approach over a traditional, fixed, static approach, which is desirable. But prepare to be ridiculed for it as this routinely happens to people advocating a reality-based approach. Such attempts will make enemies from the die-hard Left because facts beat feelings everytime, and in reality based martial arts, their is no room for feelings, only facts.People don’t like change. They don’t like having to adapt and refine and evolve. They often respond with hostility to those who challenge their echo chambers and question their “sacred traditions” in politics and the martial arts.
Any kind of reality based martial arts will force people out of their Safe Space. They rarely engage people in real time, off of Facebook and Twitter. I’ve certainly long understood the concept of reality-based combat. There’s a strong link between reality-based thinking and adaptability, and the practicality of fighting systems; But immersion within the world of science and skepticism is what will enrich your metaphorical lexicon in this area.
